Rugby Australia has reported a comprehensive loss loss of 36.837m for 2024 on revenue of 126.277m (30.144m operating loss before finance) The body has a negative equity of 49.751m, with borrowings of more than 56m.

TOTAL PLAYER PARTICIPATION, inclusive of Clubs, Events and Schools, increased substantially in 2024 with just under 15% growth, surging past the pre-Covid level recorded in 2019.
The growth in player participation was supported by significant growth in the number of Accredited Coaches (9%) and Match Officials (29%) to round out a very positive year for the community game in Australia In the club environment overall registered players in the XVs format increased by 1.5% which was driven by female players (9%) and senior males, which grew for the first time since 2021
FOLLOWING A LIMITED DOMESTIC season in 2023, fixtures and crowds returned in 2024 with over 275,000 Australians attending a Wallabies or Wallaroos fixture
With an average crowd across six fixtures of approximately 44,000, the Wallabies continued their revival as one of Australia’s favourite national teams, recording their second highest attended season (only to 2022) since the 2013 British & Irish Lions Tour.
The inaugural Perth Sevens event in collaboration with World Rugby was a huge success with over 48,000 in attendance that included a final day sell-out.
Despite the ACT Brumbies again making it through to the semi-finals, the Super Rugby season average on Free to Air was down 9% on 2023
The highest performing Wallabies Tests were against Wales, delivering an average Free to Air audience of 512,200 for the first Test, with the second Test delivering an average audience of 464,300. A successful return to an afternoon fixture for Bledisloe Cup in Sydney delivered an average audience of 440,000 on Free to Air.
Of the 7 games available on Free to Air, Shute Shield saw an increase of 9.5% on 2023. Hospital Cup Free to Air ratings were stable on 2023 performance with one less game broadcast due to a clash with Olympics broadcasts
