2024-2025 AusvInd Test Series

The NRMA Insurance Five Test series between Australia and India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was the most watched Test series of all-time across Foxtel Group platforms Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Foxtel Go and Foxtel Now.

The series was up 47% on the 2023/24 ‘Summer of Cricket’ Tests, and up 20% on the last Australia-India Test series in Australia in 2020/21.

The growth was driven by the New Years Test in Sydney which was the most watched individual Test of all-time, as well as record streaming audiences which were up 73% on the 2023/24 ‘Summer of Cricket’ Tests and 121% up on the 2020/21 series vs India.

Across the 2024/25 Test series, more than 1.4 billion minutes were streamed on Kayo Sports, Foxtel Go and Foxtel Now, making it the most streamed of all time.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series between Australia and India reached 13.4 million people across Seven and 7plus Sport, taking the crown as Australia’s favourite sport so far this summer.

The five Test series attracted an average total TV audience of just over 1 million, up 39% on the 2023-24 summer. The Fifth Test broke records, with the second session on day three drawing 1.76 million total TV viewers, the biggest ever number for a Test match session on Seven. It included a record-breaking 176,000 viewers on 7plus Sport. The entire series reached 1.29 million people exclusively on 7plus Sport and delivered 120,000 new
registered users for 7plus.

The five Test series between the two greatest teams in world cricket attracted an average total TV audience of just over 1 million, up 39% on the 2023-24 summer.

The first men’s international series available to stream for free in Australia, the series reached 1.29 million people exclusively on 7plus Sport and delivered 120,000 new registered users for 7plus.

The Fifth Test, which concluded in a dramatic run chase yesterday with Australia clinching the six-wicket win to secure the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade, alone reached 6.6 million people, including 1 million on 7plus Sport.


The final showdown between Australia and India scored an average total TV audience of 1.4 million across all sessions and was the most-watched program in all people, 25 to 54s, 16 to 39s and grocery shoppers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.


The Fifth Test broke records, with the second session on day three drawing 1.76 million total TV viewers, the biggest ever number for a Test match session on Seven. It included a record-breaking 176,000 viewers on 7plus Sport.


Other big rating sessions included the third session on day two (1.66 million), the third session on day one (1.47 million viewers), the second session on day two (1.43 million) and the first session on day three (also 1.43 million).

Across the Fifth Test, 7plus saw a 230% jump in audience compared to the same days last year. The Fifth Test reached 757,000 people exclusively on 7plus Sport.

In India, . The series was watched by 192.5M viewers on TV, recording 52 billion minutes of total Watch-time across television and digital platforms. Despite the sub-optimal match timings due to the time-difference, this series also became the second most watched test series on Indian Television (including India’s home and away test series) with the No.1 spot also belonging to this rivalry with the BGT trophy in 2017. 

The five-language live broadcast of the series which produced cinematic moments of cricket, dramatic performances by cricketers from both nations, intense competition throughout and culture-defining events, captivated the attention of fans and registered an impressive 49% increase in Television watch-time compared to the 2020 edition.

The opening clash of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia shattered viewership records, firmly cementing its status as cricket’s toughest rivalry. The first Test in Perth engaged an astonishing 70.8 million viewers, achieving a staggering 8.6 billion minutes of watch-time on television. This marks a 76 per cent growth in reach and an extraordinary 160 per cent surge in engagement compared to the first Test during India’s 2020 tour of Australia. 

With a remarkable 38 per cent increase in TV ratings, this thrilling contest now holds the distinction of being the highest-rated bilateral away Test since the inception of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in 2015.

The first two Tests of the series collectively reached 86 million viewers on television, marking a 55 per cent increase compared to the 2020 series. The total watch time has surged to an impressive 12.8 billion minutes, a remarkable 75 per cent rise from the previous edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
