The Origin season has begun! Womens Origin kicked off Magic Round on Thursday May 1st.

Womens Origin
Game 1 1/5: Nine 927k (BVOD 172k) Reach 2.009m
- Womens Origin was down slightly on Game 1 last year (941k), but was stll the 4th best rating for Womens Origin.

- Nine PR – Women’s State of Origin Game 1 dominated its timeslot with Total People and all key demographics in Sydney and Brisbane, where it ranked the No. 1 program of the night. It was also Australia’s No.1 program with People 16-39 and People 25-54. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 2.009 million and a Total TV National Audience of 927,000. On 9Now, its BVOD audience of 172,000 was up 16.2% on the same night last year

Game 2 15/5 – Nine 1.067m (BVOD 196k) Reach 2.131m
- Womens Origin Game 2 with 1.067m on Nine drawing almost the exact same audience as Game 2 last year (1.068m), and just behind Game 3 2024 (1.074m)

- Nine PR – Women’s State of Origin Game 2 Women’s State of Origin Game 2 was Australia’s No. 1 program with People 25-54 and 16-39, as well as the No. 1 program in Sydney with Total People. The match, in which the NSW blues defeated the Queensland Maroons 26-6, recorded the highest average audience for any Women’s Rugby League match in VOZ history on 9Now. It dominated its timeslot across Australia and in Sydney and Brisbane with Total People and all key demos. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 2.131 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.067 million. On 9Now, its BVOD audience of 196,000 was up 14.0% on the same night last year.
Game 2 of the 2025 #NRLW Womens Origin has rated 1.088m (Cons+7) with a reach of 2.079m, up from 992,000 (1.897m Reach) for Game 1 Aggregate for Games I & II so far is 2.08m, up from 2.06m in 2024.
Game 3 29/5 – Nine 995k (BVOD 170k) Reach 1.965m

- The 2025 #NRLW Origin series had a total overnight audience aggregate of, 2.989m at an average of 996,000. This is down 3% YoY. [2024: 3.084m at an average of 1.028m]
Mens Origin
Game 1 29/5 – Nine 3.755m (BVOD 963k) Reach 5.449m
- This is the highest Origin since Game 1 2016, and up 9.2% on Game 1, 2024
- State of Origin Game 1 ratings breakdown No 1 program for the night everywhere but Adelaide. Syd highest since G1 2016. Record audience in Perth.

- The 963,000 BVOD for this is record for Origin, and just shy of the 980,000 for the Matildas World Cup semi final.
- #StateofOrigin has now rated more than 3m nationally for 4 origins in a row after not reaching that mark for the previous 14 in a row (G2 2019-G3 2023).

- down ever so slightly on Game 1 (3.755m)
- Origin Game IIs rating of 3.751m was the best rating for Game II since 2015, and the 4th highest rating Game II since the ratings system changed in the early 2000s. It is the second highest rating Origin (behind G1 25) since VOZ began.
State of Origin Game 2 was the No. 1 program of the night in:
- Sydney – Total TV Audience of 1.042 million
- Melbourne – Total TV Audience of 308,000
- Brisbane – Total TV Audience of 888,000
- Perth – Total TV Audience of 190,000

Game 3 9/7 – Nine 3.904m (BVOD 978k) Reach 5.657m

- Origin 3 was the highest rating Origin on Nine since Origin 1, 2016, and even with consolidation wont break the record from Origin 3, 2013 (4.194m) – last night was the highest rating Game III since Origin 3, 2013.
- The 2025 Origin Series has rated an aggregate of 11.471m on Nine with last night to be consolidated. Theres still a chance this goes over 4m. This is already up 11.8% on the 2024 series.
- The 2025 Mens, Womens and U19s Origin broadcasts have an aggregate audience of 15.001m. This figure is up 8.1% on the 2024 season.
State of Origin III – The Decider was Australia’s No. 1 program with Total People and all key demos. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 5.657 million and a Total TV Audience of 3.904 million – up 9.3% year-on-year.
State of Origin III – The Decider was the highest rating Game 3 since 2013 and the highest rating of any game since 2016.
State of Origin III – The Decider recorded the highest ever BVOD audience of all time with 978,000 watching on 9Now (beating FIFA Women’s World Cup Semi Final: Matildas v England by 8,000). State of Origin III – The Decider recorded a BVOD audience of 978,000 on 9Now – up 13.2% year-on-year.

#NRL State of Origin III had a consolidated audience of 3.961m, with the BVOD audience average of more than 1m. This was up 9.75% on Game III in 2024. Mens Origin had a consolidated total of 11.528m – up 12.8% on the 2024 series.
