The AFL had a big weekend in attendance, but fell well short of its record attendance last year, while the NRL finished round 2 well up on the same time last year.
AFL
Round 1 (or Rnd 2 if you prefer) of the 2026 #AFL season was attended by 383,640 at an average of 42,627, using 61% of capacity. The season to date has been attended by 574,162 at an average of 41,102 per match, using 67% of capacity.
The average is down -8% on OR/R1 2025 This is the lowest Round 1 aggregate since the COVID era (2020-22), the lowest Round 1 in the Opening Round era, and the first Round 1 in three seasons to not pass 400,000 attendees.
NRL
Round 2 of the 2026 #NRL season was attended by 177,834 at an average of 22,229 per match, suing 72% of capacity.
The 2026 NRL season to date has been attended by 360,680 at an average of 22,542, using 72% of capacity. This is up 25.6% on the first two rounds of 2025. (in both years Vegas is counted as 1 event with 2 matches)
Asian Cup
The Womens Asian Cup has been attended by 224,226 at an average of 10,679, using 30% of capacity.
#Matildas matches have been attended by 143,522 at an average of 35,881 per game, using 74% of capacity.
Non Matildas matches have been attended by 80,744 at an average of 4,750 per game, using 15% of capacity.
