Game 1 of the 2025 State of Origin series was attended by 52,483 at Suncorp Stadium (capacity 52,500).

On Nine it rated 3.755m (BVOD 963k) with a reach 5.449m This is the highest rating Origin since Game 1 2016, and up 9.2% on Game 1, 2024.
#StateofOrigin has now rated more than 3m nationally for 4 origins in a row after not reaching that mark for the previous 14 in a row (G2 2019-G3 2023). It is now the number 1 rating program for the year on Australian television.

According to Nine – State of Origin Game 1 was Australia’s No. 1 program with Total People and all key demos. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 5.449 million and a Total TV Audience of 3.755 million – up 11.2% year-on-year, and the highest Total TV result for the State of Origin in VOZ history.
The 963,000 BVOD for this is a record for Origin – Highest ever Live BVOD Audience on 9Now, smashing its previous record by 11% – and just shy of the 980,000 for the Matildas World Cup semi final.
