- AO 2025 broke the main draw attendance record with 1,102,303 fans through the gates over 15 days,
compared with the previous record of 1,020,763 set in 2024. - Across three weeks from Monday 6 to Sunday 26 January, 1,218,831 people visited Melbourne Park,
compared to 1,110,657 over three weeks in 2024. - Records were broken for nine individual sessions and 11 day/night totals.
- Friday 17 January was the highest attended day/night in the history of the Australian Open with 97,132 fans
through the gates. - 335,993 people attended Summer of Tennis events held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Perth and
Sydney in the lead-in to AO 2025. - More than 1.5 million people attended events across the entire Australian Summer of Tennis.
Domestic broadcast highlights
- 13.07 million people were reached across the 9Network’s coverage of AO25, up two per cent year on year.
- 89.8 million domestic hours were viewed (TV and streaming), up 10.2 per cent year on year.
- Audiences on streaming platforms continue to grow, with 23.3 per cent of all domestic hours viewed coming
through 9Now and Stan – up 5.7 percentage points from AO 2024. - The 9Network was the number one BVOD commercial free-to-air network by share of voice on all fifteen days of AO 2025.
- Among 16-39-year-olds, 9Now’s BVOD commercial free-to-air audience share averaged over 62 per cent
across AO 2025 - National total TV average audience for the women’s singles final between Madison Keys and Aryna Sabalenka was 1.56 million, up 18.5 per cent on last year’s final. The BVOD audience for the women’s singles final was 246,000, up 51.9 per cent year on year.
International broadcast
- Top five countries by TV hours viewed were China, Australia, USA, Italy, Germany.
- The two countries represented in the men’s singles final both had strong year on year growth in AO 2025 hours viewed – Germany up 23 per cent and Italy up 17 per cent.
- In Italy, an average audience of 3.5 million watched Jannik Sinner defend his AO men’s singles title, with the
men’s final enjoying a 33 per cent audience share across Eurosport and FTA channel Nove. - In Germany, the average audience for the men’s final was 1.67 million, across Eurosport and FTA channel RTL
- Elsewhere in Europe, the strongest audience growth was in Spain, where hours viewed more than doubled year on year, up 118 per cent.

Domestic broadcast highlights
- 12.857 million were reached across the 9Network’s coverage of AO 2024, an increase of nine per cent year

- Audiences on streaming platforms continued to grow, with 17.6 per cent of all domestic hours viewed coming

during AO 2023. - The men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev reached 5.471 million viewers on the 9Network
with a national total TV audience of 2.122 million, up 6 per cent year on year and national total TV reach of
4.767 million. - The women’s final between Aryna Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen reached 3.261 million viewers with a national
peak audience on Channel 9 of 1.490 million and average audience of 1.41 million.
The Women’s Final audience was up 15% year on year across Total TV and recorded the second highest Live
BVOD audience for the Women’s Final and an increase of 68% year-on-year. - The fourth round match between Australia’s Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev peaked with 1.855 million
viewers and average audience of 1.391 million on Channel 9. The blockbuster match helped boost the
audience share among 19-39 year-olds to more than 70 per cent on the 9Network and attracted the highest
ever Live BVOD audience outside of a men’s or women’s final ever.
International broadcast
- A 45.5 per cent increase in global hours viewed year on year (across 12 key markets).
- Top five countries by hours viewed were China, Australia, USA, Italy, Poland.
- Hours viewed in China were up 84 per cent year on year. China’s viewership was spearheaded by Zheng’s run
to the women’s singles final. Zheng’s final had an average audience of 5.8m on CCTV5, her semifinal had an
average audience of 5m viewers on CCTV5, and her quarterfinal had an average audience of 2.9m on CCTV5. - Hours viewed in the US increased by 70 per cent year on year (up to Thursday 25 January 2024)
- US audiences were captivated by Coco Gauff’s semifinal run, drawing big prime-time audiences including a
peak audience of 1.12m for her quarterfinal victory. - US audiences enjoyed a significant increase in coverage on ESPN and ESPN2, with coverage hours up 46 per
cent year on year (up to Thursday 25 January 2024) - Italian audiences hit unprecedented levels with Jannik Sinner’s men’s singles victory, with hours viewed up 304
per cent year on year. Sinner’s championship win drew the largest audience in the history of Eurosport Italia
(broadcaster launched in 1989) - Hours viewed in Spain increased 140 per cent year on year, with Alcaraz returning to Melbourne Park and
reaching a quarterfinal. - Hours viewed in France increased 91 per cent year on year with Adrian Mannarino and Arthur Cazaux reaching
the fourth round - European broadcast partner Eurosport (WB Discovery) streaming platforms saw a 30 per cent increase yearon-year in unique viewers, while their TV channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 secured a 24 per cent year-onyear increase in average audiences
- Across the three weeks of the event, AO global broadcast partners generated 1.1 billion impressions and 650
million video views on their social channels.

24.5 million hours were viewed across days 1-10 in the USA, up 6.6 per cent on 2022. This is expected
to rise for the final four days with the expansion of content available on linear TV
Chinese viewership was also strong, up 44 per cent on 2022 with 69 million hours watched over the first
13 days. Day 11 was the biggest day of the tournament with 6.98 million hours watched in China, up 501
per cent on 2022
Streaming audiences rose by a third on discovery+ and the Eurosport App in the first week, with double
digit growth in key markets like France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK
Linear television viewership across Europe on Eurosport is consistent with the record engagement levels
of last year, but with massive jumps in Poland up 84 per cent and the Netherlands up 39 per cent
Preliminary numbers from Netflix for the first 10 days, show that Break Point has made the top 10 list in
28 countries including the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Norway, Denmark and Estonia.

Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open 2022 has reached a national audience of 12.5 million viewers (Metro: 8.977 million / Regional: 3.523 million) for its linear broadcast on Channel 9 and 9Gem.
The combination of the Women’s Final and the Men’s Doubles Final on Saturday, January 29 gave the 9Network the highest primetime commercial shares in OzTAM history with People 25-54 (81.2%), 16-39 (84.9%) and Total People (78.6%).
Across the full day (including all sessions of tennis), metro TV audiences are up by 39.5% on Channel 9 and up by 34.2% on 9Gem, compared to last year’s Australian Open.
Across the full day (including all sessions of tennis), regional TV audiences are up by 47.8% on Channel 9 compared to last year’s Australian Open.
The average national audience for the night sessions is (including Men’s and Women’s Finals) is 1.2 million – an increase of 37.9% on 2021.

Saturday night’s Women’s Final Match, in which Ash Barty defeated Danielle Collins 6-3, 7-6, soared to a peak national audience of 4.261 million (Metro: 3.074 million/ Regional: 1.187 million) and a national average audience of 3.577 million (Metro: 2.581 million / Regional: 995,000). It is the highest rating Australian Open Women’s Final of all time and Australia’s highest rating program of the year to date
The Women’s Final recorded the highest live BVOD audience of the Australian Open ever, with 241,000 people tuning in on 9Now. The match is 4.4 times higher than last year’s Women’s Final and 1.7 times higher than last year’s Men’s Final.
Nine’s broadcast of last night’s Men’s Final of the Australian Open achieved a national peak audience of 3.136 million (Metro: 2.347 million / Regional: 789,000). The match, in which Rafael Nadal came back from two sets down to defeat Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5, secured a national average audience of 2.095 million (Metro: 1.613 million / Regional: 482,000). It is the highest rating Men’s Final in four years (linear and BVOD viewing combined).
On 9Now, the Men’s Final recorded a Live BVOD Audience of 227,000 – a year-on-year increase of 157% and the highest live BVOD Audience of an Australian Open Men’s Final ever. Day 14 recorded the highest live minutes streamed of the Australian Open ever, with 87 million live minutes streamed (+449% year-on-year). 636,000 people tuned in to the Australian Open yesterday via 9Now – the highest of the tournament.
The all-Aussie Men’s Doubles Final on Saturday, which saw Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis defeat Matt Ebden and Max Purcell 7-5, 6-4, was the highest rating Australian Open Men’s Doubles match of all time. It drew a peak audience of 3.154 million (Metro: 2.303 million / Regional: 851,000) and a national average audience of 2.297 million (Metro: 1.725 million / Regional: 572,000).
