Australia’s victory over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series delivered a massive result for the Seven Network, reaching 13.4 million people across Seven and 7plus Sport and easily taking the crown as Australia’s favourite sport this summer.
From the first match on 15 December to last night’s showdown at Ninja Stadium in Hobart, BBL 14 delighted fans and reached 11.9 million people on Seven and 7plus Sport. The full season drew 21% more viewers on Seven than last summer and delivered BBL’s biggest broadcast audience on Seven in five years
Super Bowl LIX Post Game reached 1.19 million, with a national audience total TV audience of 548,000. The game capped Seven’s big 2024-25 NFL season, which reached 4.7 million people, with audience up 6% year-on-year.
The iconic annual ANZAC Day AFL showdown between Essendon and Collingwood scored big with viewers yesterday, reaching 2.15 million* people on Seven and 7plus Sport. Seven’s live and free coverage of Collingwood’s 41-point victory over Essendon delivered a national total TV audience of 838,000, up 52% on the 2025 season-to-date AFL season average.
The Seven Network’s massive King’s Birthday long weekend of AFL scored big with sport fans, with its coverage of five matches from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon reaching 4.6 million people on Seven and 7plus Sport. The combined audience reach across the five days, which included the Collingwood v Melbourne clash at the MCG and the King’s Birthday Eve match between Carlton and Essendon, was up on the same long weekend footy feast in 2024 (6 to 10 June).
The Seven Network’s broadcast of the iconic Four’N Twenty Legends Game scored the biggest AFL audience of the year to that point, with more than 2.3 million Australians tuning in on Seven and 7plus Sport.
The Front Bar and newcomers The Agenda Setters, Footy Feast and Unfiltered on Seven and 7plus Sport rank among the most popular sport entertainment shows in the country with viewers and advertisers – and are drawing new, younger viewers to 7plus Sport.
More than 2.74 million people tuned in to watch the Collingwood Magpies’ victory over the Adelaide Crows in the first Qualifying Final of the AFL season on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport. The game was the biggest AFL audience this season at that time, with an average national total TV audience of 1.09 million, up 32% on the first Qualifying Final of 2024. On 7plus Sport, more than 128,000 tuned in, which was the biggest 7plus audience this season.
More than 3.14 million people tuned in to watch Geelong’s victory over Hawthorn in Friday night’s AFL Preliminary Final on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport. The game was the biggest AFL audience this season at that time, with an average national total TV audience of 1.3 million, up 8% on the first Preliminary Final of 2024. On 7plus Sport, more than 180,000 tuned in, which was the biggest 7plus audience this season.
The Seven Network’s coverage of the AFL has reached more Australians than any other winter sport this year, with 16.2 million tuning in to date on Seven and 7plus Sport, including 8.2 million for the Finals series. The Preliminary Final between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions was the highest rated game this year (to date), reaching 3.26 million people nationally, with a national total TV audience of 1.54 million – up 17% on the same match last year. More than 207,000 people tuned in on 7plus Sport, which was the highest 7plus audience this year.
The Seven Network’s coverage of the Supercars Championship Repco Bathurst 1000 had its biggest audience since 2016, with more than 4.32 million people tuning in for the Great Race alone on Seven and 7plus Sport on Sunday.
The First Test at Optus Stadium in Perth, which saw Australia defeat England in a spectacular two-day test, bowled an average total TV audience of 1.17 million, which was up 60% on last year’s First Test between Australia and India, and higher than the start of the last Ashes series.
The Seven Network’s live and free coverage of the Repco Supercars Championship was a hit with sport fans this year, reaching more than 8.7 million people across the season and finishing with the highest rated Grand Final since 2021. Seven’s bp Adelaide Grand Final coverage on the weekend reached 2.37 million, which was up 31% year-on-year. The race itself had an average total TV audience of 498,000, which was up 17%. While on 7plus Sport, the round’s audience grew 138% year-on-year.
The Gabba Test scored an average national total TV audience of 1.21 million, up 6% on the First Test and up 36% on last year’s Second Test between Australia and India. It was Seven’s highest rated Gabba Test ever, as well as the highest rated Day-Night Test. While on 7plus, 194,000 tuned in on average to each session, which was up 178% on last year.
The Adelaide Test, which saw Australia retain the Ashes, scored an average national total TV audience of 1.08 million, up 35% on last year’s Third Test between Australia and India. On 7plus Sport, 181,000 tuned in on average to each session across the five days, which was up 199% year-on-year. Day 5 had a total reach of 3.46 million, with a total TV audience of 1.28 million.
The Big Bash League (BBL) has also started its season strong, with its total TV audience up 3% year-on-year and streaming up 120% on 7plus Sport. The highest rated match was last Thursday’s clash between the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes, which reached 2.35 million and had a total TV audience of 741,000.
The Boxing Day Test at the MCG bowled up an average national total TV audience of 1.52 million, up 16% on last year’s Boxing Day Test. On 7plus Sport, a record 245,000 tuned in on average to each session, which was up 93% year-on-year. The Test reached 6.3 million across the two days.
