The Betfred Super League has confirmed record-breaking numbers at the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, with more than 1.62 million fans attending matches across the competition – the highest cumulative figure ever recorded for a 12-team league.
This milestone surpasses the previous benchmark of 1,602,299 set in 2008 and underlines the competition’s growing popularity with attendances growing 9% from 2024. For the first time in Super League history, the average attendance per game has exceeded 10,000, a landmark moment that highlights the strength of the sport at club level.
Alongside record-breaking crowds inside stadiums, Super League has seen major growth across its digital and broadcast platforms going into Round 27:
- Broadcast average viewing figures across Sky Sports and BBC have also increased by 52%, demonstrating the competition’s appeal to wider audiences and solidifying rugby league’s place as one of the UK’s most-watched domestic sports.
- Digital impressions, engagements and video views have risen significantly by 68% year-on-year, reflecting the appetite for Super League content among younger and online audiences.
