Theres been a lot of new shows introduced on Television this year to cater for the changes in the AFL broadcast arrangements at Seven and Fox, and while we cant give you any information about the Foxtel shows ratings – as none have been published at all – we can talk a little about the Free to Air offerings and how they fare half way through the season
For those too young to remember, the Monday Night Wars was the term used to refer to the battle between the WWF and the WCW for primacy on Monday nights in the early to mid 90s. Yes, Im old.
In Australian sports own version of the Monday Night Wars 100% footy (NRL) on Nine holds the narrowest of leads over Footy Classified (9/AFL) 205,000 to 204,000, while The Agenda Setters (AFL) on Seven has an average of 174,000.
Tuesday nights, the upstart Agenda Setters are beating Footy Classified with an average audience of 167,000k to 154,000. Unfortunately we lack data on Freddy and the Eighth, although last night rated 151,000.
The Front Bar (7/AFL) continues to lead all comers on FTA with an average viewership of 573,000, and is currently outrating the networks live coverage of its AFL on average.
Sevens new interview series “Unfiltered with Hamish McLaclan” (AFL) comes in at an average viewership of 318,000 – but benefits heavily from the Front Bar lead in.
On Sundays, the incumbent shows still rule the roost – the AFL footy show averages 175,000 on Nine, while new kid on the block, Sunday Feast (AFL) averages 118,000 on Seven. The NRL variant of the Footy show averages 141,000.
