The ABC reports that RSL Tasmania wants a museum, special naming of grandstands – “such as a Cenotaph end and veteran’s end”, and naming sections of the arena after Tasmanian Victoria Cross winners – and a “recognition of service at the start of every event” as part of the Macquarie Point stadium precinct, should the project go ahead.
The proposals come as the RLS seeks to make the best of what it believes to be a poor situation. With the process begun, the RSL sees this as a way to get some compromises to their benefit and the benefit of the site.
The RSL is opposed to the venue, and has publicly supported Stadium 2.0 – which has no backing from the Federal or State Govermments, or the AFL.
