The Telegraph reports that more than 1.9 million people watched Melbourne’s win against the Roosters on Friday night which was a significant boost compared to the corresponding game last year. The number of people who watched the game this year was up by 36.1 per cent compared to the Panthers and Storm preliminary finals clash in 2023.
Those numbers include fans who watched on Fox League, Channel 9 and across streaming platforms.
The free to air ratings, were the best for rugby league this year outside of Mens State of Origin and the first NRL final this year to rate a million+. Corresponding Final last year (which also featured Melbourne) rated 916,000 on Nine (and a further 453,000 on Foxgroup).
Last Weeks Swans/Power Prelim had a consolidated viewing audience of 1.2 million on Seven, while the Sharks/Cowboys Semi had an average audience of 868,000
