28/7/24 – Sunday Crowds and TV Ratings – AFL, NRL, NRLW

AFL Round 20 kicked off on Sunday with the Pies taking on the Tigers in a relatively low key affair that drew 58,342 to the MCG. This gives the Pies a home average of 63,077 for the year, including a home average attendance of 68,767 at the MCG in 2024.

To Sydney and the Swans drew a decent crowd of 36,028 to the SCG for the clash against the Bulldogs. This gives the Swans a home attendance average of 38,431 for the season, with all matches played at the SCG.

To conclude the round, the Crows hosted the Hawks at Adelaide Oval with 41,823 in attendance, taking Adelaide to a season home attendance of 41,625. Adelaides home season is now complete with 457,878 people attending their matches at Adelaide Oval this year.

Sunday Afternoon AFL rated an average audience of 329,000 with a reach of 1.243 million. This season Sunday AFL has rated an average audience of 363,000 with an average reach of 1.137 million.

NRL

In Round 21 of the NRL, the first of the three Sunday matches saw 18,988 front up at WIn Stadium for the Dragons clash with the Panthers. This gives the Dragons an average attendance of 13,759 for the season, including a home average of 14,570 in Wollongong (as opposed to 8,274 in Kogorah).

The Dolphins took on the Titans in a Queensland derby at Suncorp in front of 19,533 people. giving the Dolphins a home average of 17,931 in their second season, including an average of 21,887 at Suncorp Stadium.

In the final match of the round, the Raiders took on the Rabbitohs with 12,114 making the trip to GIO Stadium, leaving the Raiders with a home average of 17,030 for the season, but if you exclude Magic Round, the average home game at GIO Stadium this season is 13,259.

Sunday NRL rated an average audiecnce of 535,000 on Nine, including a BVOD audience of 64,000 with a reach of 1.747 million. Sunday NRL this season averages a 473,000 audience with an average reach of 1.193 million.

NRLW

The Sunday matches drew 10,728 for Dragons doubleheader against the Titans. The Tigers crowd against the Raiders at Campbelltown wasnt published at the time of writing.
