Infrastructure News 26/7/24 – Brisbane Olympic Venues, Hobart Stadium, Whitten Oval, Rosehill

The Miles government plans to spend $1.6 billion upgrading QSAC, but it has emerged more money will be needed for the stadium to host athletics at the Games.

Brisbane 2032 president Andrew Liveris has for the first time revealed Steven Miles’ proposed 40,000-seat no-frills Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre stadium would leave a hole in his $1.29bn ticket revenue target.

The organisation representing the nation’s ex-service personnel says legislation should be drafted to protect the Hobart Cenotaph from the impact of inappropriate development like the proposed AFL stadium.

Racing NSW CEO Peter V’landys has confirmed he will appear before the parliamentary inquiry into the proposal to close, redevelop and sell off Rosehill.

The $78m redevelopment of the Whitten Oval will prove a “game changer” for the Western Bulldogs men’s and women’s programs, for the red, white and blue fans and the local community, according to the club’s chief executive Ameet Bains.
