The NRLW competition will be a key selling point for the National Rugby League’s next media rights deal, according to chief executive Andrew Abdo, following the success of the 2024 women’s State of Origin series which drew more than three million viewers across the three games.
The APL has claimed that the competitions have seen three years of continued growth, reporting TV audiences up 53% on Paramount+, 33% on 10 Play and 16% on Network 10, memberships up 31% from the previous season, and a 7% year-on-year increase on crowds.
VOZ will become the official trading currency from December 29. This will enable trading on “truly national, all-screen Total TV audiences for the first time”, according to OzTAM, and means TV network annual rate negotiations for calendar year 2025 will be based on VOZ Total TV data for the first time.
The NBA media rights deals were approved by the league’s Board of Governors last week and will bring the league about $76bn over those 11 years. The agreement also includes the rights to the WNBA and is expected to total $2.2bn over 11 years.
