State of Origin III, 2024 – Origin is alive and thriving

State of Origin III rated 3.652m according to Oztams VOZ and Nine, with a record BVOD audience of 864,000 and a national tv reach of 5.426 million.

The NRLs late day release says the game rated 3.829m. We assume they recieved updated data during the day, but we may not know until consolidation next week.

The 2024 Origin series had a cumulative average audience of 10.351m, at 3.45m per match. This is up 12% on last years VOZ data.

Nine says State of Origin Game 3 was the highest rating match since Game 1 2016, and the highest rating Game 3 since 2013 (based on overnight using TAM/VPM). This is somewhat at odds with data we have that says Game 3, 2017 rated slightly higher than Game 3, 3024.

Record rating for Game 3 – or any Origin – remains the 4.194m in 2013 under the old Oztam system.

Game III’s streaming audience of 864,000 also a record for Origin, and a record percentage of viewership on 9NOW (23.66%). In 2019, Game 3 streaming was just 88,000 (or 3% of the audience)
