Magic Round got off to a fantastic start with a record attendance for Womens Origin 1 and a record tv audience for a Womens Origin and ended up with record Magic Round attendances and audiences.
NRLW Origin 1
Origin 1 was attended by a Womens record 25,492 at Suncorp Stadium. The match was watched by 941,000 on the Nine Network (BVOD 128,000), up 46% on last year – and 103% on BVOD, helped by not being simulcast on Foxtel, and reached a national audience of 1.983 million.
This was the highest average rating for any NRL – or AFL – match this year.
Magic Round
Magic Round was attended by 149,196, up from the 147,095 who attended last year and the best attended Magic Round to date. The Crowd peaked on day 1 with 50,971 for Manly v Brisbane.
Nine Network audiences were up across the board, particularly Saturday night. The Average audience was 484,000.

- Sunday Night 453,000 (Reach 1.097m)
The Friday, Saturday and Sunday slots had their highest ever Foxtel Group ratings, and the NRL season is headed for a record Foxtel audience. Foxtel confirmed that an average audience of 545,000 watched the eight games that took place at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium across Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Foxtel Now and Foxtel Go.
Fox Sports managing director Steve Crawley said: “Congratulations to the NRL and all the clubs on an amazing result. Fox Sports and Kayo broke four individual records with viewership numbers over the weekend. Beginning with the first match 6.00pm Friday, Raiders v Bulldogs with an average audience of 592,000. This was backed-up by Saturday’s 5.30pm game, Sharks v Roosters, which achieved a spectacular average audience figure of 664,000. Then again on Sunday afternoon where the Storm v Eels game recorded a huge 589,000.”
