Record Magic Round and SuperNetball Attendance – its the weekend! May 16-19, 2024

It was a massive weekend for attendances across the country, and no matter what code you support thats got to be a good thing.

The A-league Mens finals were sold out at both venues on the Central Coast (20,059) and in Wellington where a record Phoenix home crowd of 33,297 attended. It is also the best attended match this season of any A-league club. Unfortunately no tv ratings were reported.

Round 10 of the AFL season saw 297,029 attend at an average of 33,033.

On Seven, the AFL had mixed fortunes

  • Thursday Night AFL rated an average of 561,000 and a reach of 1.861 million
  • Friday Night AFL rated an average 656,000 and a reach of 2.036 million
  • Saturday Afternoon AFL rated an average of 227,000 with a reach of 614,000
  • Saturday Night AFL rated an average of 360,000 with a reach of 1.465 million
  • Sunday Afternoon AFL rated an average of 412,000 with a reach of 1.252 million.

NRL Magic Round began with a record attendance for the Womens Origin with 25,492 at Suncorp Stadium. A record Magic Round attendance was set as 149,196 eager NRL fans passed through the gates over the three days.

  • Womens Origin rated a record 941,000 and a reach of 1.983m. This match has the highest average tv rating on Free to Air television of any code this season.
  • Friday Night NRL rated an average of 575,000 and a reach of 1.255 million
  • Saturday Night NRL rated an avgerage of 425,000 and a reach of 946,000
  • Sunday Afternoon NRL rated an average of 453,000 and a reach of 1.097m

SuperNetball reports a record breaking round attendance of 27,514. Ratings data is not available.

Super Rugby saw 8,232 at the Brumbies/Crusaders at GIO Stadium, 8,790 reported for what could well be the final Rebels match, and 9,001 turned out to see the Force/Waratahs.
