The Australian reports that the NRL has reopened talks with its clubs over the game’s stadiums strategy after being urged by the NSW Premier to provide a united front on how the state government should spend the $1.6 billion it has earmarked for Sydney venues.
Under Dave Smith’s watch, the NRL had been pushing for a new stadium at Moore Park, a move that led to ructions within the code. Powerbrokers from Canterbury and South Sydney sought their own discussions with the NSW government to ensure ANZ Stadium wasn’t underfunded.
