News Limited reports that the Perth Glory have accepted the decision to fine and eliminate them from the finals series in 2015. The club will not take further action as it had previously threatened to.
“Following the process the club has reached the view that it was within FFA’s power to make the decision and apply the sanction and that it is in the interests of the club and the game to bring the matter to a resolution,’’ Glory said in the statement.
The announcement came a few hours after the Glory’s CEO resigned, vacating his job immediately.
In a statement, Brewer accepted responsibility for his role in the salary cap drama that resulted in a $269,000 fine from FFA, expulsion from the finals series and the possibility of further sanctions for next season.
“I would like to personally apologise for a series of events which have resulted in the club facing sanctions by [FFA],” Brewer said.
“As CEO I ultimately take full responsibility for these actions, which have resulted in the club being eliminated from this year’s Hyundai A-League finals campaign.”
